Modi Government’s Masterstroke!

In what could be a master stroke PM Modi Government has resolved to bring in a constitutional amendment to increase reservation quotas from 50% to 60% .The additional 10% quota will apply to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) to get reservation in jobs and in education, thereby serving as a huge mode of upliftment. The new reservations will be applicable to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) across all religions.

This constitutional amendment which is being brought in by the Modi government will be a game changer in terms of reservation policy, especially in a big election year, since it is agnostic of caste and religious considerations.

The historic amendment goes in line with the Modi government’s policy of junking caste- based appeasement and it is an advantage to general category who was demanding reservation on economic terms from a very long time. It is Modi Government which has finally cared about them and has taken a bold and decisive step in fulfilling their long pending demand. Modi government has truly respected the sentiments of people belonging to general category.

For implementing this, the Government will amend Articles 15 and 16 of the Constitution. These two amendments will provide reservation of not more than 10 percent to the economically weaker sections among the upper caste or those who fall under the general category.

This proposal by the Government has also put the opposition in a state where their one wrong move will cost them heavily. If they will not support the Modi Government’s Amendment there will be big loss of upper caste votes to them and if they will support and this amendment will become a reality which will be a big shot in the arm of Modi Government

Modi Government has actually implemented a base for reservation on economic base This is just the start. Modi Government has pulled out such an arrow which will go anyway. It will be the victory of Modi Government in all cases.
