Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah’s maiden visit to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A was a clear reflection of Centre’s vision for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He not only focused on the ongoing development plans of the Centre for J&K but, also succeeded to establish a direct contact with the people here.

Mr.Shah, who was accompanied by Union Ministers Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan and Dr Jitendra Singh as well as LG Mr.Manoj Sinha, inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of various projects worth Rs 15,000 crore. Apart from interacting with Sufis and saints, members of civil society, youth clubs and panchayat representatives, Mr. Shah also met the families of soldiers and civilians killed by terrorists in various attacks, which has been greatly appreciated by the people of J&K.

During his first day of visit, he met the family of police officer Parvez Ahmed at his residence located at Budgam district, where he offered condolences to the martyred officer’s family and handed over the government job documents as well. Parvez Ahmed was killed by terrorists in June this year. The Union Home Minister also reviewed the security scenario at a meeting held at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar.

Promising equitable development of both Jammu and Kashmir regions, while addressing a huge rally in Jammu on the second day of his visit, taking a dig at the political parties here, he said “The three families are responsible for the plight of Jammu and Kashmir. What did these three families gave to Jammu and Kashmir during 70 years rule – 87 MLAs and 6 MPs?”. “Modi Ji has done the work of making 30,000 people elected representatives, a Panchayat has been formed in every village, he added. “Dadagiri” of three families will no longer work in Jammu and Kashmir and “no one” would be allowed to disrupt the process of development initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the Union Territory.
“When we came up with the new industrial policy, the three families used to mock us at asking who will come here; But because of Modi ji’s hard work and tireless efforts, investments of Rs 12,000 crore have come until now, and will rise to Rs 51,000 crore before the end of 2022,’’ Mr Shah said, without naming the “three families” of J&K; Congress, NC, and PDP.

Addressing the gathering on the third day at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre, removing the bulletproof glass shield from the podium, Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah said that he wants to talk directly to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “I was taunted, condemned…today I want to speak to you frankly, which is why there is no bulletproof shield or security here….Farooq sahib has suggested me to speak with Pakistan and Hurriyat, but I want to speak to the youth and people of the Valley,” Amit Shah said.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Shah attired in traditional Kashmiri pheran, offered prayers at Mata Kheer Bhavani temple in Ganderbal district. His three-days visit to Jammu and Kashmir culminated on 26 October morning with paying homage to the CRPF jawans at Pulwama memorial, who were martyred in a terror attack in 2019 .

His Jammu and Kashmir visit was a loud and clear message, in which he not only exposed the Congress, NC and PDP, but also clarified India’s Kashmir policy at the global level. Apart from meeting the civil society, he directly spoke to the youth and elected representatives of panchayats, which would prove fruitful in near future.
