Friends, yesterday I had promised to expose and explain the term ‘political duplicity’ installment wise. So, here is its first installment:
To begin with let me say that there are many rules of politics but ‘Loyalty First’ is its golden rule upon which all the successful rulers act and those who do not take this rule seriously fall victim to the plot of their own sycophant and duplicate loyalists. The practice is old which continues till date.
Accordingly, every Union government appoints CMs and Governors in the states of their choice; every political party appoints every state chief of its confidence and so does a state chief appoint his loyalists at district level. By following this golden rule, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru appointed his friend Sheikh Abdullah as the interim Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 against the advice of then Home Minister Sardar Valab Bhai Patel. By following this golden rule, Rajive Gandhi reinstalled his friend Farooq Abdullah as State Chief Minister to legitimize which both had to rig the Assembly elections of 1987 thus paving way for the maiden entry of gun culture in the ‘Heaven on the Earth’. And believe me someone loyal to Indian government will be searched out whenever elections are held here no matter which party is at Centre’s helm of affairs and then also, nobody will consider the popularity and sacrifices of Geelani, Mirwaiz or Malik because their loyalty to India is doubtful.
Similarly, when India got freedom the British had to transfer power to someone who could be loyal to them and they chose Nehru and Jinnah out of dozens of popular and capable leaders who could run the new government smoothly and successfully, which sufficiently proves that both were loyal to the British government and could serve the purpose of their masters in a better way. The purpose understandably was partition of India and creation of Kashmir dispute the script of which had already been penned down with mutual understanding and tacit approval of the last British Governor General in India, Lord Mount Baton. According to the plot, real fighters of India’s freedom struggle like Vir Sawarker, Sardar Bhagat Singh, Ashfaqullah Khan, Subhash Chander Bose, Abdul Kalam Azad, Chander Shekhar Azad and Sardar Patel were removed from the scene by either letting them rot in Kala Pani jail; by hanging them over night; getting them killed and by expelling them from Congress or sidelining them in the party.
Same thing is happening in Congress today also where Sonia Gandhi is in a state of dilemma to decide her loyal successor. Even choosing between Rahul Gandhi and Pryanka Wadra has become a perennial problem for her.
So, now when significance of loyalty has become crystal clear I leave it up to the readers to decide for themself as who in their eyes the real freedom fighters were and who in their opinion could be the duplicate ones who first served the British purpose and then sucked India’s blood in the name of sacrifice.
Note: Second installment may follow soon
